Director Of Financial Aid & Scholarships

Student Services is recruiting for a full time Director of Financial Aid & Scholarships to work in the Financial Aid Department. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of comprehensive student financial aid programs for the college and serves as the Financial Aid Administrator of record for all purposes specified within federal and state regulations and guidelines. The Director is responsible for ensuring accuracy, timeliness, completeness and compliance with regulations.

The Director shall establish proactive services, assistance and resources for students and their families and shall develop, implement, and monitor annual financial aid and budgets, including establishing goals and activities and evaluating program outcomes. This position will lead the administration and compliance of military-affiliated student benefits, including Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) education benefits and Texas Hazlewood exemptions.

Operational & Program Management Duties

Serves as the principal advisor to the Vice President of Student Services on all matters relating to the financial aid and scholarship programming;

Promotes a positive atmosphere by maintaining proactive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community at large while providing exemplary customer service;

Facilitates and refines internal processes to provide all students with the necessary information and assistance to understand and apply for financial aid and scholarships;

Works closely with Student Services management staff to coordinate all related division wide functions. Involves Instructional Services and Business Services as appropriate in the development and delivery of financial aid services;

Develops and implements annual goals, objectives, and assessment methods to ensure department effectiveness;

Develops, manages and reconciles the financial aid & scholarships operational budget in alignment with overall institutional/divisional goals and objectives;

Effectively supervises, supports and trains personnel in all aspects of financial aid and college funding opportunities;

Develops and implements policies and procedures which ensure that Victoria College and the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships remain in compliance as designated by state and federal law;

Ensures the development and successful implementation of a scholarship program that supports enrollment management objectives by working with deans, department heads, administrators and committees to optimize enrollment impact of institutional and foundation scholarships;

Ensures effective utilization of funded scholarships and supports the Foundation in its efforts to promote and distribute funding opportunities, attends Foundation meetings as needed; provides consultation and assistance in organizing and administering special events; arranges for college officials to represent the institution at events where scholarships are presented;

Secures and manages the disbursement and reporting of donor-funded scholarships and institutional awards that support recruitment, retention and completion;
