Role Description

The City of Victoria is seeking a full-time Surface Water Treatment Plant (SWTP) Operator to join their team on-site in Victoria, TX. The SWTP Operator will be responsible for monitoring, operating, and maintaining the water treatment systems to ensure reliable and safe water supply. Daily duties include inspecting equipment, collecting and analyzing water samples, recording data, adjusting processes to meet regulatory standards, and performing routine maintenance.

The role requires adherence to health and safety standards and active communication with the team and management to address operational concerns and system performance.

Qualifications
  • Technical skills:
    Proficiency in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting water treatment systems and related equipment.
  • Analytical skills:
    Ability to collect, test, and analyze water samples to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and quality standards.
  • Mechanical knowledge:
    Familiarity with mechanical systems, preventive maintenance, and basic repair techniques.
  • Communication and documentation:
    Strong skills in recording data accurately, maintaining reports, and collaborating effectively with teams.
  • Certifications:

    Possession of or ability to obtain a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) operator license or similar certification.
  • Additional desirable qualifications:
    Relevant experience in water treatment operations, understanding of local, state, and federal water regulations, and basic computer literacy for monitoring systems.
