Full Time Fraud Analyst – Victoria, TX, US
Requisition
POSITION PURPOSEThe Fraud Analyst is responsible for ensuring conformity and adherence with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations maintaining the Bank’s Fraud Program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES Analysis and Investigations- Analyze alerts from the fraud system and daily, weekly, and monthly reports to detect suspicious activity.
- Identify trends, patterns, and unusual activity and elevate suspicious activity to case status for further investigation.
- Conduct investigations for escalated alerts and external investigations or complex problems.
- Determine the scope, timing, and direction of investigations, including identifying case issues and required evidence, and handle all documentation.
- Prepare correspondence letters, requests for information from customers, and narratives for BSA referrals.
- Process entries via keyboard or manual tickets for losses and/or provisional credits.
- Respond to inquiries or refer them to the appropriate department or person with follow‑through.
- Serve as an advisor to Senior Management on fraud risk and make recommendations to mitigate risk exposure.
- Partner with other financial institutions and law enforcement agencies to coordinate case investigations and collaborate on organized crime rings, public corruption, financial crimes, and other violations of federal or state statutes.
- Provide support and guidance to the Bank’s fraud risk management efforts.
- Assist the Fraud Manager in ensuring departmental activities run smoothly and efficiently through leadership and training.
- Assist bank personnel in resolving inquiries or issues relating to fraud matters.
Associate degree required, preferably in business‑related field.
Educational experience through in‑house training sessions, formal schooling, or financial industry related curriculum should be applicable to the financial industry.
Experience RequiredFive years of banking experience plus two years of related experience and/or training, focusing on fraud investigations, analysis, compliance, or operational support.
Skills/Abilities- Ability to make appropriate judgments and decisions with limited guidance.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills, including the ability to work independently on complex projects with minimal supervision.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and instill trust within the organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to multitask is essential.
- Talking – frequently conveys detailed instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
- Average hearing – able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
- Repetitive motion – frequent movements that use wrists, hands, and fingers.
- Average visual abilities – ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products.
- Physical strength – primarily sedentary; occasionally exert up to 10 lbs. of force.
No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions (typical office setting).
MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION- Reasoning ability – apply common sense to carry out detailed, uncomplicated instructions and solve problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Mathematics ability – add, subtract, multiply, divide, compute rate, ratio, and percent, and interpret bar graphs.
- Language ability – read, comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, and effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and associates.
Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 40 hours per week.
