About the Role
We are seeking an Automation Engineer to join our Digital Modernisation Division, working in complex, multi‑vendor technology environments. This is a 9‑month maximum‑tenure contract role.
The role requires technical expertise in automation engineering, including implementation and management of Ansible Automation infrastructure and playbooks. Bring a thoughtful, solutions‑focused approach, strong communication skills, and a commitment to learning while optimizing network performance and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, and collections to automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployment.
- Manage and optimise the Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform environment, including inventories, credentials, and controllers.
- Translate manual processes into scalable, reliable automation workflows integrated with enterprise platforms and services.
- Embed automation into CI/CD pipelines and delivery processes to improve consistency and efficiency.
- Collaborate across teams to identify opportunities, troubleshoot issues, and continuously improve automation frameworks and practices.
- Experience developing and maintaining automation using Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, including playbooks, roles, and workflows.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure automation concepts such as Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, and orchestration.
- Scripting experience using Python, Bash, or Power Shell to support automation solutions.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix systems, cloud platforms, and modern Dev Ops practices including CI/CD and version control (Git).
- Strong collaboration, documentation, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and build effective relationships.
- This role requires the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and to obtain and maintain a baseline level security clearance.
