Industrial Painter

The Mundy Companies, a leader in the industrial maintenance, services, and construction fields, is currently hiring for the following long-term position in the Victoria, Texas area:

Successful candidates will have a minimum of three (3) years of continuous and current experience as an Industrial Painter in a petrochemical, industrial, or manufacturing environment. Industrial Painters prepare wood and metal surfaces for painting, and paint equipment, parts, machinery, buildings, and other working areas using a spray gun, brush, and rollers.

• Reads work order or receives instructions verbally
• Prepares surface using method appropriate for surface to be painted
• May fill cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface
• Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color, according to specifications using paddle or mechanical mixer
• May erect scaffolding or set up ladder to perform tasks above ground level
• Apply paint to surface using a spray gun, brush, or roller
• Clean surfaces of metal or hard compositions to remove scale, sand, paint, grease, tar or dirt to prepare specified finish using abrasive blasting equipment
• Shovel or pour abrasive of specified grade into machine hopper
• Mask specified areas of object to protect from sandblasting
• Regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle
• Direct blast or flow of abrasive laden air, gas, or liquid over surface to be blasted

The successful candidate will maintain a high degree of personal safety and environmental awareness at all times. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions in a safe, efficient manner. The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing is also required. All qualified applicants must be craft certified or possess the ability to pass a craft test, as well as the ability to pass a criminal background check, pre‑employment drug screen and other qualifications as required.
