Health Equity Advisor – 12-month fixed-term, part-time (0.6 – 0.8 FTE)

Reporting to the Head of Women's Health, Research and Policy, the Health Equity Advisor will lead and support initiatives that promote cultural safety, health equity and improved outcomes for First Nations people accessing women's healthcare. This role also plays a key part in implementing RANZCOG's community engagement strategy and ensuring consumer voices are embedded across advocacy, policy and research activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and deliver First Nations health equity initiatives and projects.
  • Support cultural safety and capability development across the O&G workforce.
  • Build and maintain relationships with First Nations leaders, communities and organisations.
  • Lead and support actions under RANZCOG's Reconciliation Action Plan.
  • Coordinate the First Nations Women's Health Committee, including meeting management and administration.
  • Support the implementation of RANZCOG's Community Engagement Strategy.
  • Facilitate meaningful engagement with consumers and community representatives.
  • Contribute to advocacy activities, policy submissions and stakeholder engagement relating to women's health equity.
  • Plan and support events, workshops and initiatives that promote equity, cultural safety and inclusion.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge or understanding of First Nations community and voices.
  • Ability to effectively engage with First Nations and non-Indigenous people to advance equitable outcomes for First Nations people.
  • Interest in and commitment to O&G health and improving health outcomes for First Nations people accessing O&G healthcare; experience in a health or medical environment an advantage.
  • Experience in planning/organising activities and events or project management, with a focus on making a meaningful difference.
  • Policy experience and experience working in a government or advocacy context.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines, set priorities and operate both independently and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and to communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders, individuals, and groups.
  • A positive, friendly and flexible attitude and willingness to assist in all tasks big and small.
  • Proficient use of common computer applications, including MS Office, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work occasional weekends or additional hours for meetings or events (time-in-lieu/overtime will be available) and open to occasional travel within Australia.
