The Security Officer protects life and property of all persons on hospital premises. Patrols hospital buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and violent acts. Secures, unlocks and protects hospital buildings and property. Responds to security needs of hospital personnel, patients and visitors.

• Investigates incidents and creates report. (EF)
• Performs lost and found duties.
• Transports deceased patients. (EF)
• Monitors disturbances, thefts, vandalism and assaults. (EF)
• Assists with combative patients. (EF)
• Utilizes de-escalation techniques with combative patients and visitors. (EF)

• Adheres to organization-wide and other applicable policies and procedures.
• Day-to-day performance complies with the hospital’s Service Excellence Behavioral Expectations.
• Performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital’s Ethics, Compliance and Confidentiality Program guidelines.
• Performs within professional Scope of Practice at all times.

• Required: High school diploma or equivalent
• Preferred: Associates degree or higher in related field

• Required: Two (2) years of healthcare security experience or equivalent
• Preferred: Prior experience in security and/or law enforcement or military

• Required: Must have effective communication skills and report writing skills
• Preferred: Knowledge of computers and video surveillance

• Required: Valid driver’s license
• Preferred: Private Security Officer License and/or IAHSS Certification
