Primary
Purpose:
Under general supervision, maintain the flow and drainage of water, air and other gases by assembling, installing and repairing pipes, fittings and plumbing fixtures district wide. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all plumbing systems in district facilities.
Education/
Certifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Texas driver's license
- Texas Journeyman Plumber's License
Experience: Five years' experience in plumbing field
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of plumbing repairs, maintenance and installation techniques
- Knowledge of plumbing codes
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics and written reference material
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations
- Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
- Ability to use hand and power tools
Supervisory Responsibilities: Assist in the training and supervision of skilled trades plumbers
Mental/Physical/Environmental DemandsTools/Equipment Used: Hand and power tools, pipe bender, propane torch, welding equipment, sewer rooter, mini jetter, locator camera, heavy equipment, including forklift, trencher and backhoe, light truck or van
Posture/Motion/Lifting: Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching and heavy lifting and carrying. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, around gas lines, around fumes and toxic chemicals, outside and inside
Environment: Exposure to extreme temperatures. Frequent district wide travel, occasional prolonged and irregular hours; work indoors and outdoors to conduct on-site inspection of all facilities and construction projects; work around machinery with moving parts; work on ladders or scaffolding
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; communicate effectively and professionally at all times
