SummaryThe Field Service Technician, AMS is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing natural gas compression equipment. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality. The position works closely with external customers and internal team members to ensure that all equipment is functioning efficiently and safely.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Coordinates and performs job activities in a manner consistent with Kodiak’s procedures, goals, and objectives.
- Troubleshoots complex repairs and major equipment overhauls.
- Builds and maintains customer relationships.
- Diagnoses all levels of compressor system failures.
- Optimizes compression equipment performance.
- Completes required reports and actions per operating procedures/policies.
- Analyzes job parts and supply inventory to communicate with Supply Chain, ensuring sufficient parts for optimal job performance.
- Prioritizes repair work when competing demands arise.
- Assesses repair/replacement needs and identifies the best solution.
- Performs consistent inspections and maintenance of units to proactively ensure unit health.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Technical or vocational training in mechanical, electrical, or a related field (preferred).
- 3+ years of compressor maintenance or related industry experience (required).
- Experience with Caterpillar G3600/G3500 Natural Gas Engine (preferred).
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Operation of heavy equipment.
- Stand for up to 75% of the time.
- Climb ladders or stairs.
- Intermittent lifting of >50 lbs from the ground.
- Work in high‑noise environments (>85dbA) with ear protection.
- Potential, controlled exposure to hazardous chemicals.
- Work in outdoor conditions, including extreme heat and extreme cold.
- Possibility of overtime, extended, or non‑traditional working hours.
- Move and maintain self in different positions—stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl—within tight and confined spaces.
- Wear all required PPE, including fire‑retardant clothing, hard hats, face shields, hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel‑toed boots.
- Frequently type and use computer and other office equipment such as a copier, printer, calendar, telephone, etc.
