Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic
Schedule: Sunday - Thursday, 3rd Shift, 9:00 pm – 6:00 am
Compensation: Hourly pay based on experience. Free uniforms, annual safety boot allowance and benefits effective Day 1 of employment.
Position SummaryPerform preventative maintenance on medium to heavy‑duty trucks, trailers, reefer units, and converter dollies under minimal supervision. Ensure compliance with all state and federal trucking regulations. Communicate professionally with co‑workers and keep accurate, up‑to‑date documentation for all repairs and parts used daily. Perform road‑call services as needed.
Primary Responsibilities- Complete preventive maintenance, minor repairs and standard component inspections on fleet diesel equipment, including tractors, trailers, and refrigeration units.
- Identify root causes of basic failures, determine required repairs, and perform those repairs.
- Ensure all equipment has required licensing and registration before being deemed road‑worthy.
- Maintain thorough documentation for work orders using the online Enterprise Asset Management system.
- Install, replace, and repair onboard computers.
- Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other critical components; replace parts as necessary.
- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, battery checks, lubrication, and use of hand and power tools (screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, jacks, and hoists).
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- At least 2 years of proven medium to heavy‑duty vehicle repair experience, including preventive maintenance, tire and wheel service, air and disc brake work, diagnosis, computerized diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, electronic component repair, and A/C refrigeration.
- 1st shift hours:
Monday – Friday. - Hourly pay based on experience.
