Maintenance Building Specialist

To maintain all District general purpose building maintenance safety, appearance and operating efficiency.

High school diploma or GED

Valid Texas driver's license

Knowledge of Building Maintenance

Ability to find problems and repair immediately

Ability to make repairs to all building needs

Three (3) years experience in all phases building maintenance

Assist in the upkeep and maintaining all buildings.

Primary responsibilities include Doors, Windows, Leaks, Equipment Repairs.

Assist the Mechanics Coordinator in making sure state inspections are current.

Assist the foreman with an accurate list of A/C units ages and conditions.

Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds and equipment by following established inspection procedures.

Replace and repair furniture, cabinets, fixtures, woodwork, etc.

Work cooperatively with principals and supervisor to complete work orders.

Maintain accurate records on materials and labor used.

Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials.

Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean and remove excess materials and debris as needed.

Assist mechanic foreman in inspection of motors, belts, air conditioners and heaters to maintain proper performance.

Assist with relocation of furnishings, such as desks, tables, chairs, file cabinets, etc.

Move, install, assemble and repair all school furniture as needed.

Hang pictures, mirrors, blackboards, bulletin boards, projection screens, towel dispensers, soap dispensers and other items as required.

Install door and window assemblies and hardware, including window glass and screens

Install ceiling and floor materials

Operate equipment and machinery according to the prescribed safety procedures.

Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc.

Report unsafe conditions in the work area to the Mechanics Coordinator.

Assist the Mechanics Coordinator in ordering equipment and supplies and maintaining accurate records.

Respond to after hour emergency calls as needed

Continuous standing, some climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, carrying and lifting. The demand to complete work orders quickly to repair buildings in a safe and working condition, etc. could cause a great deal of pressure and result in an unsafe working conditions.
