Road Worker - Plant Operator

The role and what it offers

These two positions are part of our Works unit. The ongoing position is in the Inspections and Unsealed Roads team, while the fixed‑term position is in the Drainage and Infrastructure team.

Both roles are primarily responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a range of plant associated with road maintenance and construction activities, including trucks, loaders, backhoes, tractors, skid steers, brush cutters, chainsaws and other equipment.

They will use our modern fleet of plant and equipment to support programmed and reactive maintenance of rural roadside slashing, vegetation management, and infrastructure maintenance in small townships, including drainage, footpaths, roads and other council‑related road infrastructure.

Roles are hands‑on and work closely with other team members.

Job type:
Full time – 9‑day fortnight (RDO every second week). Fixed‑term position is for 12 months. Salary:
Band 3, $66.2k – $70k per annum + Super + Allowances. Overtime and on‑call standby work provide additional penalty rates and generous allowances.

• Relevant experience and qualifications, including accreditations and licences.
