YARD ASSISTANT Job Summary

The yard Assistant will perform maintenance work on company facilities, assist drivers on routes, and run company errands.

• Cleans work areas from debris as needed.
• Assists equipment operators as directed.
• Promptly reports all unsafe situations or service-related issues to driver or dispatch.
• Manually or mechanically loads and empties residential/commercial trash containers.
• Assists driver with all backing maneuvers as needed.
• Promptly notifies Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, property damage, or when unable to complete customer services.
• Attends scheduled trainings and safety meetings.
• Makes deliveries and runs company errands as directed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform duties effectively and timely.
• Capacity to follow through reliably while working independently.
• Ability to read and understand instructions and work orders.
• Ability to navigate while driving with or without equipment/technology.

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of related experience preferred.
• Navigation/routing software experience preferred.

• Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with odors present.
• Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds regularly.
• Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, push, and pull.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Will be exposed to the outdoor environment.
• Skilled in the use of technology; tablet, laptop, cell phone.
