Job Summary
Directs day-to-day activities of assigned warehouse tasks in the receipt, storage, maintenance, and issue of stock and non-stock materials. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with teammates and vendors.
- Recognizes safety hazards and follows safety guidelines for personal protection, protection of fellow workers and the protection of the public.
- Directs activities by planning tasks efficiently.
- Interfaces with Contractors, Vendors, and other department personnel in support of department goals and objectives.
- Demonstrates leadership capabilities and acts as a positive role model and accepts responsibility. Has ability to assume other duties when assigned.
- Provides training for warehouse processes to fellow workers as needed.
- Power Plant Environment-Work both inside and outside in all temperatures and climate conditions in accordance with Heat Stress procedures.
- Work around large rotating equipment, energized electrical equipment in high noise areas, or from platforms at heights of 5 feet or greater. Climb stairways, and ladders.
- Must be prepared to work irregular hours and respond to emergency callout 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
- Ability to work in mentally stressful environments: must be able to react to crises where immediate action is required to correct or curtail potentially damaging or hazardous situations.
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent knowledge of English (both written and spoken), mathematics and grammar.
- Successful completion of Equipment Certifications for all equipment needed for warehouse tasks.
- Five years’ experience in warehousing operations.
- Have ability to discern and respond to verbal and auditory signals.
- Ability to discern assorted colors
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of purchasing, receiving, storing, maintaining and issuing material procedures.
- Knowledge of the “Systems Applications Program” (SAP) with ability to perform computer entry and inquiries to assist with team needs.
- Knowledge of hazardous material handling procedures.
- Ability to operate Company vehicles and equipment (e.g. forklift, plant vehicles, etc.) and maintain operating licenses and certifications. TDL is required.
- Knowledge of common power plant materials.
- Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and listening ability to communicate effectively with management, co-workers, contractors, and vendors.
- Ability to inspect and maintain material handling equipment.
- Ability to transport material between warehouses and site locations and maintain logs as needed.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to accomplish work with little or no supervision.
- Ability to use a personal computer and associated software to perform warehouse activities.
- Ability to monitor and recommend changes to min/max levels and reorder for warehouse location.
- Ability to create releases, prepare and ship material to vendor for repair; store and maintain pending repair material.
- Ability to arrange and ship hazardous materials to other locations, prepare documents and maintain logs.
- Knowledge of and ability to manage VMI and catalog ordering programs where applicable.
- Ability to prepare discrepant receival reports, process material return authorization for discrepant material.
- Ability to expedite material as required.
- Ability to maintain inventory records and complete inventory reconciliation.
- Ability to provide customer service functions for plant needs if needed.
- Ability to identify and correct discrepancies in material and material storage.
- Ability to perform housekeeping duties as required.
- Ability to perform other duties as assigned.
- Daily work expectation requires ability to perform tasks by walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, crouching, squatting, twisting, pushing, pulling, shoveling, climbing, and working with hand tools (up to 25 pounds) in position above and below head, and extended from body.
- Lift, carry, position, and use tools and/or equipment as needed for parts/goods arrangement.
- Ability to twist the body and neck while driving company vehicles or operating company equipment.
- Performance of duties may cause frequent jarring of the body.
- Work with and around hazardous and non-hazardous materials (reference the waste management guidance manual).
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required i.e.…steel-toed boots, respirators, goggles, safety glasses etc.
