This role assists with the delivery of daily lessons, classroom management, and individualized student support, contributing to a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment. Bilingual Spanish is required.
DescriptionUnder general supervision, the Bilingual Teacher’s Aide provides instructional and classroom support to the Lead Teacher and other teaching staff in Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) funded programs serving unaccompanied children (UC). This role assists with the delivery of daily lessons, classroom management, and individualized student support, contributing to a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment. Bilingual Spanish is required.
The Teacher’s Aide supports both academic and social-emotional development of youth, helping ensure that the educational program meets ORR, federal, and state standards.
Duties And Responsibilities- Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities.
- Provide individual or small-group support to students, including English language learners and students with special needs.
- Reinforce classroom rules and encourage positive behavior among youth.
- Help prepare instructional materials, visual aids, and learning resources.
- Support student engagement and participation in classroom activities.
- Assist in maintaining a safe, organized, and structured classroom environment.
- Supervise students during class, transitions, recess, and other educational activities.
- Monitor student behavior and report concerns or incidents to the Lead Teacher.
- Encourage cooperation, teamwork, and respect among students.
- Help maintain student attendance records, participation logs, and other classroom documentation.
- Support data collection and assist with progress reports as needed.
- Communicate effectively with teaching staff regarding student needs, performance, and behavior.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, case managers, and clinical staff to support student learning and well-being.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development as required.
- Assist with classroom setup, cleanup, and preparation for activities or events.
- Participate in and provide support groups and classes to the community and clients of the agency. (based on position)
- Maintain a welcoming environment for families and other community partners.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and PII privacy and security requirements.
- As with all of our positions, we work as a team and various duties may be assigned at any time including tasks to support other AGH programs/services, cleaning, organizing, child care, attending to the needs of the child in your care or in the office, attendance at meetings, transportation, paperwork, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Lead Teacher
Hiring Rate of Pay:$24.04 per hour
Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework preferred.
- Experience working with children in educational, childcare, or residential settings preferred.
- Bilingual Spanish required.
- Ability to follow directions and work under supervision.
- Good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Patience, flexibility, and a positive approach when working with youth from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Be able to obtain Criminal and Child Abuse Clearance from the State of California/Department of Justice.
- Must be available full-time and able to adjust work day/work week to provide services when clients and families need them, which can routinely include evenings…
