Position: Airframe and Powerplant Technician (A&P)

Job Summary

Airframe and Powerplant Technician generally inspect, repair, overhaul, upgrade, and clean aircraft. A&P Technician also provides general and routine maintenance in accordance with all Federal Aviation Administration regulations, all aircraft manufacturer's recommendations, and all company policies and procedures. Additionally, A&P Technicians are required to maintain detailed records concerning all work conducted, inspections performed, conditions found, and safety compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Make required work order entries for discrepancies and corrective actions.
  • Parts identification, read and interpret Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC).
  • Troubleshoot, inspect, test, repair, service aircraft and engine systems to prepare aircraft for flight. Initiate and document any nonconforming materials, hardware, software, tools, parts, assemblies, or portions thereof, according to specifications, processes, and procedures.
  • Use technical specifications, sketches, manuals, drawings, engineering instructions and FAA forms and publications to accomplish work assignment.
  • Maintain Company and FAA required records and inspection forms. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment. Plan and organize the sequence of your own work package in such a way as to promote safe, efficient operation and meet predetermined schedules in a timely manner.
  • Operate all types of information systems required to perform assigned tasks, including but not limited to Company WEB based systems and Microsoft Office products.
  • Interpret and perform to the requirements of airworthiness directives, service bulletins, service letters and other approved/accepted data.
  • Apply applicable mathematical calculations to set up and use precision measuring tools, to measure gaps, heights, angles, hole diameters and depths.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to work activities in accordance with regulations and Company policies.

Education, Experience & Qualifications

  • Education – High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Completion of two years of trade or vocational school (or equivalent work experience) preferred.
  • Certifications – FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate required.
  • Prior Military experience – a plus.
  • Industry Related Experience – Aerospace/Airline/Aviation/FAA Compliance experience – a plus.
  • Maintenance Repair Operation (MRO) – prior MRO experience a plus (C‑Check, Avionics, Disassembly, Induct & React, Storage, Modifications).
  • Prior Fleet and/or Airline Qualifications – a plus.
  • Valid Driver's License and clean driving record required. Must successfully obtain a Driver badge through the Southern California Logistics Airport.
  • Understands the differences of the required FAR's.
  • Proficiency in the use of tools applicable to performing basic sheet metal repairs and alterations.
  • Knowledge of basic aircraft maintenance and repairs.
  • Must be able to read and understand Company and Manufacturer Manuals.
  • Must be able to perform all line maintenance functions unsupervised at any time.
  • Ability to read and interpret aircraft drawing and schematics.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

(Competencies)
  • Computer Skills – Must have a strong working knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Corridor Go or other Maintenance or ERP systems experience a plus.
  • Language & Communication Skills – Excellent written and verbal communication (English). Fluency in a second language, particularly Spanish, is a plus.
