Working Hours

The Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse will provide services when requested, 5 days per week, excluding Federal Holidays. Work hours will normally be between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse employee(s) shall not exceed 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Must be certified to practice medicine in the state of California.
• 1+ years of experience
• CPR certification in accordance with the American Heart Association Basic Life Support.

Summary of Duties
:
Provides direct patient care within the scope of licensure by administering medications, assisting with clinical procedures, monitoring patient conditions, and responding to medical emergencies under appropriate supervision. Maintains accurate documentation, adheres to infection control and safety protocols, and collaborates with physicians, nurses, and healthcare staff to support effective patient care.

Attire

The contractor employee is required to dress appropriately for the work environment. This includes business attire or scrubs. No khaki or green scrubs. The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the contract employee will be performing services. FCC Victorville will not be responsible for providing a uniform allowance. Jeans (of any color), T-shirts, sandals (of any type), tank tops, and sweatpants/shirts are not considered appropriate professional attire.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care services in accordance with legal, ethical, and institutional standards through the evaluation of patients and therapeutic treatment as ordered by Health Services clinical staff.
• Perform Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse duties within the scope of the current licensure.
• Administer medications as prescribed, i.e., by mouth, intradermal, subcutaneously, or intramuscularly.
• Assist with the distribution of medications at the pill line.
• Monitor and evaluate the response to therapy.
• Perform skin testing.
• Assist with telehealth.
• Take medical histories, examine patients, and order and interpret laboratory tests and x-rays.
• Perform venipuncture for the purpose of obtaining laboratory specimens.
• Maintain accurate logs of all reports in accordance with Bureau of Prisons and AAAHC policy.
• Screen laboratory tests/results for normal/abnormal lab values and notify the physician or physicians.
• Ensure all sharps are secured, accounted for, stored and disposed of according to institutional and national policy.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Adhere to infection control policies and procedures.
• Ability and skill to operate EKG.
• Clinically manage injuries by bleeding control, bandaging, splinting, and immobilizing.
• Attend to medical emergencies.
• Work collaboratively with the staff physician(s), consulting physician(s) and nurses in planning, instituting, evaluating and revising program plans.
• Assist in determining conditions, resources and policies essential to the delivery of the healthcare services.
