Overview

Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties has a full‑time split opportunity for a Surgical Registered Nurse in San Bernardino and Victorville, CA. Provide family planning, prenatal, and/or abortion services to patients in accordance with Board of Registered Nursing regulations and Planned Parenthood protocols. Deliver quality patient care by providing contraceptive, prenatal, and abortion education and assessment, and facilitate referrals to internal and external sources.

Compensation

Salary based on experience.

Minimum Salary Range: USD $/Yr.

Maximum Salary Range: USD $/Yr.

Qualifications

Licensure And/or Certification Requirements

  • Current California Nurse License.
  • CPR and ACLS certification required.

Minimum Education

  • AS/BS in Nursing.
  • Preferred Maternal Child Health (MCH) education, including family planning.

Minimum Work Experience

  • 1-2 years of ambulatory, reproductive health care, prenatal, and/or abortion services required.
  • Med/surgical experience preferred.

Language Requirements/Preference

  • Bilingual skills preferred (English/Spanish).

  • Warm, caring manner and excellent customer service skills; relate well to diverse communities.
  • Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team; communicate and interact well with staff, volunteers, and patients.
  • Required to take after‑hour calls up to six days annually.
  • Availability to work flexible hours and at all PPOSBC locations as required.
  • After orientation, must adapt to patient flow per agency guidelines.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail essential.
  • Ability to physically assist a patient in distress.
  • Maintain professional demeanor at all times.
  • On‑call responsibility required.

Agency Standard Requirements

  • Strong commitment to quality healthcare and excellent customer service.
  • Must thrive in a fast‑paced, rigorous environment with changing priorities.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • High level computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; electronic medical records experience may also be required.
  • Position may require travel to other sites; personal vehicle must have a valid CA driver’s license and current auto insurance per CA vehicle code.
  • Abortion patients are cared for at each of our health centers and in part through the administrative, support, and other non‑clinical services provided at all PPOSBC locations; supporting these critical services is an essential duty.
Responsibilities

General Requirements

  • Adhere to agency policies, procedures, and protocols for physical exams, procedural skills, judgement, charting, and communication with patients.
  • Adhere to all OSHA requirements.
  • Provide clinical and surgical services per PPOSBC Medical Standards and Guidelines and associated policies.
  • Meet quality metrics and goals.
  • Participate in a team approach to patient care; deliver care professionally, confidentially, and expeditiously.
  • Act as a resource person to medical staff.
  • Adhere to affiliate goals and policies on professionalism, in‑clinic wait time, and complaint resolution.
  • Use a non‑judgmental approach to patient care.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and dependability with colleagues.
  • Attend medical meetings as required.
  • May be deployed to other sites, including San Bernardino County locations.
  • Required to take after‑hour calls (on‑call rotation).

Health Center Duties

  • Meet or exceed customer satisfaction survey benchmarks as set by the Patient Services Administration team.
  • Participate in health center efforts to achieve productivity, cycle time, and wait time goals.
  • Document patient data accurately and completely in the medical record.
  • Provide pregnancy tests, contraception, and STI treatment visits per RN Standardized Procedures.
