Job Summary and Qualifications
Supervises quality nursing care to include coordination of staff and patient care services. Is responsible for coordination of nursing service in the absence of the director of Nursing/Director, Patient Care Services. Is in charge of the hospital for the shift and all activities are reported to him/her.
Responsibilities- Coordinates nursing personnel to ensure adequate coverage on all nursing units.
- Cognizant of the legal/ethical aspects of nursing practice and provides guidance to nursing staff during supervision of activities.
- Informs Nursing administration of problems which may involve legal/ethical implications.
- Frequently makes rounds throughout the shift.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform and direct activities of the nursing staff in emergency situations.
- Cognizant of potential problem-prone situations and intervenes to prevent adverse impact.
- Briefs Nursing Administration regarding critically ill patients and/or other issues relating to delivery of patient care.
- Informs and/or advises oncoming supervisors of situations which require special attention or follow-up.
- Functions as a resource in assisting physicians, staff, patients, and families.
- Initiates action in disciplinary situations and documents proceedings.
- Performs other duties/projects as required in a timely, cooperative, and positive manner.
- This job constantly provides/delivers a service to patients.
- Constantly receives, provides, clarifies or exchanges information with patients’ families, other managers/directors outside and within the department, physicians and other staff.
- Associate’s Degree (ASN) – Accredited School of Nursing (Required)
- Bachelor’s Degree (BSN) – Accredited School of Nursing (Preferred)
- Georgia RN License – Required
- BCLS – Required
- ACLS – Required
- PALS – Required
