Position Overview

Manager in Training – an hourly position responsible for assisting the Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties. This role requires knowledge of all store departments, promotion of merchandise, and the ability to provide exceptional customer service while maintaining company policies and standards.

• Assist the Store Manager with controlling store assets and achieving sales, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling goals.
• Assume full store responsibility in the Manager’s absence, providing guidance to employees and customers across all departments.
• Maintain awareness of inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability.
• Direct staff to complete departmental responsibilities and standards, and keep the Store Manager informed of inventory movements and customer trends.
• Deliver outstanding customer service in accordance with the customer service manual, including handling multiple customers during peak periods.
• Promote and sell services and merchandise offered by Hibbett I City Gear.
• Uphold all company policies, procedures, and standards found in the operations policy manual, personnel policy manual, visual manual, and customer service manual.
• Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring accurate internal controls and reporting potential fraud risk.
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Store Manager, including interviewing, training, planning, assigning work, and resolving problems.

• Experience in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
• 1‑3 years of customer service experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
• Experience managing a team and staying aligned with overall goals and profitability.
• Strong initiative and self‑starter attitude, capable of handling important tasks independently.
• Detail oriented with strong multi‑tasking skills and precision.
• Team‑player, passionate about customer service and merchandise sales.
