Salary Range: Per Bus Driver Schedule Job Duties / Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent preferred
• Valid Georgia Commercial Driver’s License with S and P Endorsement or able to obtain PERMIT for Commercial Driver’s License before entering Bus Driver Training Program.
• Pre-Employment and annual physical examination required
• Acceptable background check as per O.C.G.A. 20-2-211.1
• Excellent interpersonal skills

• Transport students and other authorized persons on “to and from” school routes in regular, special education, vocational or extracurricular trips as authorized by the local school system.
• Operates school bus in accordance with the laws of Georgia and in accordance with the policies prescribed by the Vidalia City School District under all types of weather conditions including, but not limited to, sun, fog, rain, sleet, hail, snow, and ice.
• Abide by all policies and procedures of the Vidalia Board of Education.
• Drive on a regular schedule each day beginning at the same time to complete the route safely. Drivers should also be on campus in their bus at least five minutes prior to school dismissal in the afternoon.
• Conduct pre-trip inspection of bus before starting your route/field trip and post trip inspection shall be completed after your last afternoon route/end of field trip.
• Keep the interior of your bus clean. This applies to all regular daily route trips and activity/athletic trips.
• Check the bus every morning and every afternoon before leaving the bus to ensure that no student was left on the bus. It is the driver’s responsibility to secure the bus before leaving it.
• All transportation records in your logbook must be completed daily and the logbook placed in the designated place prior to your departure.
• Operates bus without receiving a traffic violation or warning citation from state or local law enforcement.
• Keep your CDL license current as a condition of employment.
• Document and submit Improper Passing of School Bus Violation Reports to the Transportation Director at the end of each route (if any).
• Presents professional appearance.
• Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
