Career Technician, Mobile Repair – Vidor, TX

Trinity Rail is hiring a Career Technician, Mobile Repair at our Vidor, TX Site.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct railcar inspections to ensure cars are in compliance.
• Perform repairs as necessary while always using current repair procedures.
• Meet the expectations and requirements of all customers to ensure we deliver exceptional customer experience.
• Ensure all necessary invoicing, inspection, and work order information is accurate and complete.
• Pass any required NDT disciplines and function specific certifications, which may include tank car welding, and demonstrate strong familiarity with AAR rules and regulations.
• Actively participate in safety assessments and equipment inspections.
• Work within confined spaces and from elevated heights as required to perform work.
• Perform confined space monitoring and create hot work permits.
• Perform outlined work under supervision of site or crew leader.
• Follow all safety rules and practices.
• May be involved in safety committees or initiatives.
• Understand and complete all basic required on‑board training in regard to safety and quality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1.5 years’ experience in railcar maintenance or manufacturing or proficiency in one or more of the following disciplines:
  Air Brake Testing, Welding, Gasket Valves and Fasteners, BLTII, PTII, VTII, Qualified Coating Applicator, Qualified Coating Inspector, Qualified Abrasive Blaster or other applicable qualifications.
• Basic understanding of how to read engineered drawings.
• Any type of Welding/Valve/Mechanical experience or railcar knowledge is preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License and good driving record.
• Ability to work within confined spaces and from elevated heights as required to perform work.
• Ability to perform confined space monitoring and create hot work permits.
• Ability to learn all major railcar components and basic functions.
• Ability to understand Field Manual of the AAR Interchange rules.
• Ability to use hand tools such as hammers, torches, wrenches, hydraulic jacks, pneumatic tools, and others as required.
• May be required to mentor/train lower-level technicians.
• Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
