Metropolitan Development Group is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee core accounting functions, supports accurate financial reporting, and manages project-based/job cost accounting activities. This role requires hands-on Sage Intacct experience and a strong understanding of job cost accounting in a project-driven environment. The position will be full time in our Tysons Corner Virginia location.
Key Responsibilities- Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly accruals
- Review and approve monthly bank and cash account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of reconciling items
- Coordinate cash funding activities, including intercompany transfers and ensure sufficient liquidity for operations
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Maintain and analyze job cost accounting, including project costs, margins, and variance analysis
- Ensure accurate allocation of labor, materials, and overhead to jobs/projects
- Utilize Sage Intacct for job costing, financial reporting, and system maintenance
- Review balance sheet and income statement accounts for accuracy and completeness
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and project cost reporting
- Assist with tax accountants for tax preparation for various entities and support schedules as necessary
- Identify and implement process improvements and strengthen internal controls
- Coordinate insurance renewals, schedules, and supporting documentation
- Partner with project managers and operations teams to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting
- Supervise Staff accountant
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 4–7+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Required:
Direct, hands-on experience with Sage Intacct - Required:
Strong knowledge of job cost or project-based accounting - Solid understanding of GAAP
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills
- Experience in construction, real estate development, professional services, or other project-based environments
- Experience with multi-entity accounting
