Senior Accountant

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (required).
• 5+ years of accounting experience, including 3+ years in government contracting.
• Strong knowledge of SCA payroll compliance and FAR regulations (required).
• Experience with payroll systems (Paychex preferred) and Unanet or Costpoint.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy.
• Perform monthly account reconciliations and support month-end and year-end close.
• Assist with financial statement preparation and internal reporting.
• Analyze payroll and expense trends to support budgeting and forecasting.
• Identify process improvements to strengthen controls and reporting efficiency.
• Administer multi-state payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees, ensuring compliance with SCA wage determinations, fringe benefits, and DOL requirements.
• Maintain accurate payroll records, prepare related journal entries, and resolve discrepancies.
• Support labor charging accuracy and required government reporting and audits.
• Oversee full-cycle AP, including invoice review, coding, approvals, vendor payments, accruals, reconciliations, and 1099 reporting.
• Ensure compliance with FAR, CAS, and internal policies.
• Manage vendor relationships and resolve payment issues.
