About Oakcrest School

An independent school for girls in grades 6-12, guided by the teachings of the Catholic Church and the spirituality of Opus Dei, Oakcrest School was founded in 1976 and is located in Vienna, Virginia, 17 miles west of Washington, D.C. Oakcrest students come from all over the DMV, and our students and families as well as our faculty and staff are noted for their deep commitment to the school’s mission.

Position

Oakcrest School seeks a full-time, experienced art teacher to join our professional learning community starting in August 2026. The successful candidate will be an accomplished educator with teaching experience in drawing and painting and a strong educational background in the liberal arts. We seek teachers who are passionate about their subjects and dedicated to guide students in strong academic habits and are committed to collaborating, reflecting and growing in their teaching practice.

Strong applicants will have a degree in art, at least three years of classroom experience in art methods and education, and an appreciation for an independent school environment and an all-girls’ education. Qualifications
  • Strong educational background in the liberal arts;
  • Bachelor's degree in Art; degree or experience in art methods and education;
  • Experience teaching drawing and painting;
  • Minimum of three to five years teaching experience in a rigorous program;
  • Excellent communication skills and an understanding of the developmental needs of adolescent girls;
  • Experience with and desire to collaboratively work as part of a team;
  • Commitment to excellent teaching and to continued professional development;
  • Desire to involve oneself with the school and communicate effectively beyond the classroom;
  • Experience with computer design skills and/or yearbook leadership experience preferable, but not required.
