Every role at HDR makes a difference in our ability to change the world for the better. This position, Senior Project Quality Manager in HDR’s Mid‑Atlantic Transportation Business Group, is key to delivering quality on large‑scale transportation projects.
Primary Responsibilities- Monitor QM needs for area projects and programs.
- Work with Program/Project Managers to assess and incorporate lessons learned and client feedback from project reviews and client meetings.
- Report production risk areas to the Program/Project Manager and Regional Quality Director.
- Provide internal and external project reporting on quality‑related activities, issues, and corrective actions.
- Verify adequacy of project quality activities.
- Establish project quality processes and monitor implementation and effectiveness.
- Monitor implementation of company standards and practices as appropriate.
- Effectively implement and use document management expectations from the company, client, or regulatory bodies.
- Manage quality schedule and coordinate between design discipline reviews.
- Manage quality review and comment resolution process; schedule meetings with reviewers, negotiate resolutions, and track open comments to closure.
- Assist in identifying and documenting issues that may cause deviations from planned outcomes and develop corrective action plans.
- Oversee sub‑consultant quality activities and deliverable review; audit sub‑consultant quality activities as appropriate.
- Support project conformance reviews in accordance with the company QMS.
- Support training of project/program staff on project QMP/PMP requirements.
- Verify that project teams have members with the right experience and capability.
- Lead QA/QC‑related discussions during project team meetings.
- Manage the quality efforts for a multidisciplinary team with significant sub‑consultant contribution.
- Maintain a metric‑driven quality program with formal client involvement and project auditing.
- Provide support for projects with construction value $50M–$500M.
- Act as a member of the Area Business Group Leadership Team.
- Commit to quality, continuous improvement, and HDR values.
- May be requested to develop and manage an independent QMS for JV or mega‑projects.
- Plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of large multi‑discipline projects, programs, or tasks.
- Manage and coordinate several projects concurrently.
- Serve as PIC, Project Sponsor, or Client Manager for select projects and clients.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in a professional, architectural, engineering, or closely related field.
- Certification to applicable country quality management professional certification (e.g., ASQ CMQ/OE, CQA, CQE).
- Experience with transportation clients in the Mid‑Atlantic market (VDOT, DDOT, WMATA, MDOT, etc.).
- Quality management professional certification (e.g., ASQ CMQ/OE, CQA, CQE).
- Ability to interact with various design teams.
- Commitment to being an active participant in our employee‑owned culture.
- Professional Bachelor’s degree.
- A minimum of 10 years in a similar consulting industry and at least 8 years in the specific technical area covered.
- Deep understanding of QMS fundamentals.
- Proven skills in project management and/or quality management projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication, investigative interview experience, and proficiency with project QM software systems.

Compensation ranges based on skills, experience, education, and location:
Fulton, Maryland: $106,568–$152,240;
Washington, DC: $116,256–$166,080.
