Clark Nexsen is seeking a Civil Engineer. This person will assist in various aspects of the Civil engineering portion of a project while working under the supervision and guidance of a licensed Civil Engineer. Typical responsibilities include tasks associated with designing land development projects. The person will work in stand‑alone and multi‑discipline design teams supervised by senior engineers and project managers on projects of all sizes.

General

Responsibilities
  • Perform various aspects of Civil design as directed by a Senior Civil Engineer, including conceptual studies, design analyses, calculations, site design for buildings or subdivisions, design for infrastructure projects, and design related to a business development activity such as a response to a Request for Proposal (RFP).
  • Prepare programming documents, schematic documents, design development documents, and construction documents as directed.
  • Coordinate and communicate with design team members to ensure the Civil design details integrate properly with the work of all other project disciplines.
  • Prepare marketing and presentation materials as directed.
  • Perform Civil services associated with the bidding process, including preparing addenda and amendments and opening and tabulating bids as directed.
  • Perform Civil services associated with the construction phase, including field visits, answering RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and preparing record drawings as directed.
  • Comply with quality control policies and procedures.
  • Learn and implement department and company standards.
  • Develop analysis and design skills.
  • Participate in team meetings and coordinate efforts with other team members.
  • Work with, respond to, and take direction from Senior Engineers, Project Managers, and Design Managers.
  • Work with a team of architects, engineers, interior designers, and landscape architects.
Project Responsibilities
  • Perform tasks as directed by senior staff.
  • Be responsible for document organization and clarity.
  • Be responsible for discipline drawing coordination.
  • Complete sections and details produced to a schematic‑level of completion by the Engineer.
  • Create schematic‑level site layout and grading plans for projects of low to moderate complexity.
  • Create schematic‑level roadway layout and grading plans.
  • Develop manual calculations and analytical models for Civil analysis and design purposes.
  • Participate in developing a model of the site design and utilities in Civil 3D on projects where modeling is required.
  • Assist with preparing LEED templates on projects where LEED certification is required.
  • Adhere to project budget and schedule.

Required Experience
  • Graduate of an ABET‑accredited 4‑, 5‑, or 6‑year engineering program in one of the following disciplines:
    • Civil Engineering
    • Civil and Environmental Engineering
    • Civil, Environmental and Infrastructure Engineering
    • Civil Engineering Technology
  • Post‑graduate degree in Civil Engineering or a Civil Engineering‑related degree may be given additional consideration.
  • Completed or in a position to complete the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam and all other state requirements for certification as an EIT is preferred.
  • Have 2‑4 years of specific, post‑graduation, Civil engineering experience that includes designing a site, roadway, subdivision, or utilities; developing manual calculations and analytical models for Civil analysis and design; developing construction documents (drawings and specifications); coordinating with other design team members; and…
