Actio Net is looking for a Senior Wireless Engineer to join our team in the DMV area. The position requires up to 25% travel and is a Mission Essential designated position per DFARS .
OverviewThe Senior Wireless Engineer designs, installs, optimizes, and maintains mobile broadband, cellular, and WLAN systems across enterprise Base Area Networks (BAN). This role supports both legacy and modernized wireless infrastructure, ensuring maximum coverage, minimal interference, and compliance with Air Force and DoW technical, security, and spectrum standards.

Key Responsibilities- Leads implementation of architectural vision for Wi‑Fi access points and control services across BAN.
- Plans optimal Wi‑Fi designs for spectrum usage and device placement, following all standards.
- Installs, configures and maintains wireless network equipment, network management, and security (802.11 b/g/n/ac and best practices for high‑density Wi‑Fi).
- Devises, plans, deploys, and improves wireless networks in collaboration with vendors, managers, and network engineers; leads and guides junior engineers.
- Evaluates and tests wireless products (routers, switches, hubs, bridges, VPNs, amplifiers) using industry tools; designs and validates RF link performance, quality, and reliability.
- Handles routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP) and uses enterprise monitoring tools (Solar Winds, Splunk) to optimize performance and address network issues.
- Ensures all equipment, including servers, is well connected and supports RF link performance and data protection with backup mechanisms.
- Collaborates with teams to optimize VoIP and other wireless devices; works with security to troubleshoot threats and comply with configuration standards.
- Deploys configuration changes per change management processes and proactively handles all network security solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (e.g., computer science, engineering, IT, cybersecurity, data science) OR high school diploma/associate degree with 10 years experience as a Broadband/Wireless Engineer on large, complex networks.
- 7 years of experience with broadband, wireless, or enterprise network engineering.
- Demonstrated WLAN RF design, enterprise wireless planning, and advanced troubleshooting.
- Experience designing and supporting TCP/IP networks, including switching, routing, QoS, NAC, NMS, OSP/ISP distribution.
- Experience with LTE EPC and 5G Core architectures, protocols (S1/X2, NG, N2/N3), and mobility operations.
- Proficiency with RF and cellular tools such as Cell Advisor, TEMS, Nemo, PCTEL scanners.
- Working knowledge of network slicing, beamforming, MIMO, and private cellular networks (CBRS/OnGo).
- Proficient in broadband and wireless technologies, including 802.11 standards, RF engineering, spectrum analysis, and wireless security.
- Strong understanding of network protocols, infrastructure, and enterprise architecture.
- Skilled in MS Office, Teams, SharePoint.
- Experience with wireless design tools (Ekahau, Air Magnet) and performance monitoring systems.
- Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity controls, STIGs, ACAS scanning, and RMF processes.
- CompTIA Security+ (required for DoD 8140 compliance).
- Wireless certifications such as CWNA or CWDP.

GPP 5G/LTE certifications (Nokia, Ericsson, Cisco, Samsung, Verizon, AT&T). - CBRS Certified Professional Installer (CPI).
- Certified Wireless Specialist – Cellular (CWS, CWSA).
- Active Secret Clearance required.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills to diagnose and resolve wireless/system faults quickly.
- Strong communication skills for coordination with engineering teams and leadership.
- Ability to work in high‑security, mission‑critical environments with strict standards.
