Position OverviewHDR is seeking a highly motivated Project Manager to support our growing transit and rail market sectors. The role supports project management and technical services to transit and freight clients in Virginia, Washington DC and Maryland. It requires strong management skills and experience across transit capital and rail public projects.
The ideal candidate will have experience with local transit agencies such as Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, Maryland Transit Administration, Virginia Railway Express, Virginia Passenger Rail Authority, Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation, and class I railroads CSXT and NS.
The successful candidate will also demonstrate knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local standards and requirements, and extensive knowledge of transit-focused project delivery processes such as conceptual design and feasibility, environmental documentation, preparation of Plans, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E), and providing Design Support During Construction (DSDC).
Key Responsibilities- Manage capital program engineering design and construction projects or programs in the assigned area from conceptual design through completion, including trackwork, station improvements, systems, automated fare collection and other tasks as needed for state of good repair.
- Ensure all work is planned, organized, controlled, and evaluated through HDR’s proactive project management system.
- Coordinate work of professional staff and balance the team throughout the project’s development.
- Participate in reviews with governing agencies for compliance.
- Establish client relations and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings.
- Conduct work sessions for design development and contract documents in conjunction with other staff.
- Track financial aspects of projects and coordinate and adjust effort to keep the work within agreement schedules.
- Work with Business/Accounting Manager or Project Controller and Department Manager for project reviews and with company management as needed.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- PMP certification.
- Preference given to local candidates.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- 7 years related experience.
- Minimum 2 years of project management experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- MS Office and MS Project proficiency;
Access experience is a plus. - Demonstrated leadership skills.
