Overview
The Public Policy Analyst supports Navy Federal Credit Union's public policy and government relations efforts by monitoring legislative and regulatory developments, conducting research, and assisting in the preparation of communications and reports. Ensures timely and accurate policy insights are shared across the organization and contributes to internal coordination and tracking of policy-related activities.
Responsibilities- Monitor and summarize federal and state legislative and regulatory developments relevant to credit unions and financial services
- Assist in analyzing the impact of proposed laws, regulations, and policy changes on Navy Federal's operations and members
- Support the preparation of briefing memos, reports, and internal communications for business units and leadership
- Help coordinate responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), complaints, and inquiries from government entities
- Maintain tracking systems for business unit requests, lobbying activity (e.g., Lobby Hours), and policy engagement metrics
- Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and other internal teams to ensure consistent policy messaging and documentation
- Contribute to research efforts supporting senior management on public policy matters
- Participate in external meetings and forums as appropriate, supporting senior staff
- Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, operations analysis, legal studies, or the equivalent combination of training, education and experience
- 2+ years of experience in public policy, legislative affairs, regulatory analysis, or a related discipline
- Basic understanding of legislative and regulatory processes at the federal and state levels
- Strong research and writing skills, with the ability to communicate policy issues clearly
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing multiple priorities
- Familiarity with project coordination and policy tracking tools
- Experience in financial services or credit union policy
- Working knowledge of Department of Navy operations or military-related policy issues
