Sr. Database Administrator (BI Administrator)

• The Micro Strategy Administrator is a specialized technical leader responsible for the operational excellence, security, and modernization of enterprise business intelligence (BI) platforms.
• This role focuses on the administration, integration, and optimization of Micro Strategy environments, with a strong emphasis on cloud-based solutions and seamless interoperability with AWS, Power BI, and other modern data technologies.
• The position is not a developer or analyst role, but rather a hands‑on, cross-functional administrator dedicated to ensuring high availability, performance, and security of BI systems.

• Platform Administration & Optimization
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Micro Strategy environments across on‑premises and cloud (AWS) platforms.
  • Monitor system health, analyze logs, and proactively resolve issues to ensure optimal performance and availability.
  • Benchmark systems, identify and address bottlenecks in hybrid environments, and implement best practices for scalability and reliability.
  • Automate routine administrative tasks using shell scripting, Python, Ansible, or Terraform.
• Cloud & Integration
  • Manage and support Micro Strategy deployments in AWS (including Customer Managed Cloud, EKS, Redshift, Aurora Postgres, and Quick Sight).
  • Oversee integration with Power BI, supporting report delivery and cross‑platform data flows.
  • Collaborate with Platform, Database engineers, and infrastructure teams to provision, secure, and optimize new database technologies.
• Security & Compliance
  • Implement and manage robust security models, including LDAP/Active Directory integration, user role creation, and project‑level access controls.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise security guidelines and participate in audits as required.
• Incident Response & Support
  • Respond to high‑priority production incidents, perform root cause analysis, and drive resolution across teams.
  • Provide deployment, upgrade, and troubleshooting support for multiple enterprise projects, maintaining required service levels.
• Collaboration & Communication
  • Work effectively in fast‑paced, multi‑tasking enterprise and virtual environments.
  • Partner with business, analytics, and engineering teams to deliver secure, governed, and high‑performing BI solutions.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and operational guidelines.

• 5 years of hands‑on experience administering and supporting Micro Strategy environments.
• 5 years of experience with Power BI, including report setup and workspace management.
• Strong experience with AWS cloud services (e.g., Quick Sight, EKS, Redshift), and automation tools (Ansible, Terraform).
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments, including shell scripting, SQL, and PL/SQL.
• Deep understanding of Micro Strategy architecture, security, and administration tools (Developer, Object Manager, Command Manager, Workstation).
• Experience with Micro Strategy Customer Managed Cloud and AWS Quick Sight is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication, debugging, monitoring, and troubleshooting skills.
• Micro Strategy and AWS certifications are a plus.

• Knowledge of Oracle, DB2, MS SQL Server and similar databases, Expert.
• Ability to communicate effectively with analysts, developers, tests, and project managers in both oral and written form, Advanced.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, Advanced.
  
  High-level of analytical and troubleshooting skills, Expert.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Advanced.
• Knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL), Advanced.
