Intern - Year Round (Desktop Risk & Vulnerability Remediation)

Perform risk and vulnerability remediation & mitigation on end‑user computing devices. Plan, install, and support ETS equipment including workstations, printers, servers, routers, switches, electrical systems and other devices associated with local and wide area networks and emergency power systems. Perform complex, unusual tasks with broad latitude and scope. This is a year‑round, full‑or‑part‑time, flexible internship based on school schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the initial contact for vulnerability‑related issues and answer questions regarding software/hardware vulnerabilities in the end‑user computing environment.
  • Maintain, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair computer systems, hardware, and peripherals to support vulnerability remediation.
  • Image desktop and laptop computers; knowledge of System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM).
  • Conduct remote and in‑person vulnerability remediation and troubleshooting.
  • Update desktop applications to meet compliance requirements and user needs.
  • Perform monthly patch remediation on non‑compliant workstations.
  • Clearly and thoroughly document vulnerability remediation efforts in Service Now and track escalations.
  • Resolve vulnerability tickets, including troubleshooting non‑patch related vulnerabilities, patching workstations, and updating issue tickets with action and remediation plans.
  • Interface with vendors to facilitate vulnerability remediation.
  • Continuously evaluate opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software on vulnerability‑related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with Navy Federal Credit Union information‑security standards and best practices.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Complete assignments within target deadlines.
Qualifications
  • Pursuing a program in Business Administration, Information Technology, Cyber Security or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of AI prompts/LLM.
  • Novice understanding of navigating various operating systems, file pathways, and registries (Windows, macOS, Linux).
  • Possesses verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to document and apply policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Minor experience in presenting technical solutions and/or recommendations.
  • Novice knowledge of technical inter‑relationships between software/hardware and desktop/host systems.
  • Novice skill in diagnosing and troubleshooting issues.
  • Demonstrated organizational, planning, and time‑management skills.
  • Basic understanding of research frameworks.

Hours:

Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (minimum 20–25 hours a week, based on school schedule)
