Systems Engineer – Amentum (Top Secret Required)

Amentum is seeking a Top‑Secret cleared Systems Engineer to join a high‑impact team focused on data innovation and advanced analytics to support national intelligence priorities while protecting sensitive data, sources, and methods.

The role involves leading large‑scale data analysis efforts and contributing to the design and delivery of both on‑premises and cloud‑based applications. You will provide hands‑on support for daily network operations, evaluate system utilization, monitor performance, and serve as a primary responder for operational issues and anomalies. You will troubleshoot across physical and logical network layers, work with measurement hardware and diagnostics tools, and ensure systems are current with approved patches and security requirements.

You will also support certification and accreditation activities, develop SOPs and quick‑reference guides, and advise leadership on technology investments related to processing, storage, data access, and application development.

• Supervise, coordinate and/or design, develop and implement changes to network hardware, infrastructure servers, operating systems, and attached devices. Provide day‑to‑day operational support, monitor performance, and troubleshoot operational problems. Troubleshoot at the physical level with network measurement hardware and software and verify hardware functionality with protocols.
• Participate in planning, design, technical reviews, and implementation for new network infrastructure hardware and operating systems for voice and data networks. Perform systems management and integration functions. Maintain virtualization and network administration standards including TCP/IP. Provide technical consultation and training for IT staff. Diagnose and resolve complex communication problems. Lead design, deployment, testing, patching, and interoperability efforts across base storage, backup systems, and dependent components.
• Ensure systems are current with approved patches, assist with certification and accreditation tasks, develop SOPs and quick‑reference guides, and advise on technology purchases related to processing, storage, data access, and application development. Set standards for client/server structures and evaluate feasibility of future projects. Lead major technology assignments and serve as a technical expert across multiple projects; may supervise others.

• Strong Linux skills
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in areas such as hardware and network design for large‑scale enterprise applications, cloud providers, data centers, virtualization, SaaS/PaaS, and network/systems administration
• Implementing and maintaining security best practices; documenting architecture, configurations, and processes
• Monitoring and alerting for cloud and on‑premises resources; optimizing infrastructure for cost and performance
• Troubleshooting performance and availability issues; problem solving; ability to work independently or as a team lead
• Software development; scripting and automation
• Monitoring enterprise production applications; fault finding and performance tuning
• Design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning

• TS with SCI eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline

Compensation: US: $150,000 - $155,000. The listed range is a good‑faith estimate and may vary based on responsibilities, experience, and applicable agreements.
