Our client, INSPYR Solutions, is seeking a Journeyman Carpenter.

Journeyman Carpenter

Vienna, VA

Initial 6‑month contract with possible extensions

$35 per hour to $41 per hour

Holders or Authorized to Work in the U.S.

• Analyze, determine, and complete building maintenance requirements, including construction, alteration, installation, and repairs of buildings, equipment, and furnishings.
• Construct cabinets, shelves, and other specialty items.
• Perform preventive maintenance on the building and its furnishings.
• Manage the Equipment Maintenance Program for the section by developing and maintaining a preventive maintenance checklist for the section’s equipment, instructing staff on procedures, and monitoring compliance.
• Train employees on equipment operation and may serve as Lead of the team.
• Research, document, and communicate, and observe compliance with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to building maintenance.
• Serve as project manager for building maintenance projects; coordinate and direct the work of assistants and contractors.
• Conduct job analysis to determine scope of each project in terms of requirements versus resources, and coordinate closing with customers, contractors, and client personnel.
• Select contract candidates for a competitive bidding process.
• Recommend the most qualified contractor after cost and quality analysis.
• Ensure scheduled project completion by working with the customer, contractor, and client employees.
• Review technical documentation and blueprints provided by outside architects, engineers, and contractors.
• Inspect external contractors and vendors for quality and adherence to contract specifications.
• Provide technical guidance to staff in other building trades such as Electrical Services, Maintenance Services, and Plumbing.
• Complete service orders initiated by client employees at all levels, as assigned by the Supervisor, Mechanical Services, and notify the customer when completed.
• Assemble, disassemble, and repair furnishings and partitions following manufacturer instructions.
• Inspect building systems (roof, flooring, finishes, architectural elements) and diagnose structural problems, malfunctions, or desired alterations.
• Make recommendations to the Service Supervisor concerning safety issues, code compliance, and assignment of apprentices on projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned or appropriate.

• Must possess a driver’s license.
• Thorough knowledge of local, state, and national building codes.
• Knowledge of the tools, mathematics, codes, materials, and safety regulations associated with the carpentry trade.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member to gain cooperation of others.
• Ability to lift, move, and set up tools, equipment, and furniture weighing in excess of 50 lbs.
• Desired:
  Extensive commercial electrical maintenance experience.
• Completion of an Apprenticeship Program for carpenters or formal training equivalent.
• Experience that demonstrates thorough knowledge, skill, and successful performance at the journeyman level.
• Effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• Desired:
