Job Title:

AI Technical SME/Architect

Public Trust clearance required, remote work location.

Alpha Omega is seeking a highly technical, hands‑on AI Technical SME/Architect to drive AI adoption across a diverse federal application portfolio. The role combines deep engineering expertise, AI solution delivery, and organizational enablement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hands‑On AI Solution Engineering
    • Design, develop, and deploy AI‑enabled solutions and prototypes integrated into mission‑critical systems.
    • Embed AI into developer productivity, operations automation, and data‑driven decision support workflows.
    • Build and integrate AI services within cloud‑native (Azure) and hybrid architectures.
    • Develop reusable frameworks, accelerators, and reference implementations.
  • Cloud & Platform Architecture Leadership
    • Architect scalable, secure AI/ML solutions using Azure services, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines.
    • Guide modernization of legacy and hybrid systems and establish microservices, API‑first architectures.
  • AI Enablement, Coaching, and Evangelism
    • Act as AI coach and mentor to engineering teams through training, workshops, and advisory sessions.
    • Drive AI literacy and adoption; establish knowledge repositories and best‑practice playbooks.
  • Portfolio‑Wide Technology Enablement
    • Analyze application portfolio to identify AI insertion points, automation opportunities, and technical debt reduction strategies.
    • Work across a broad stack including C#, Java, JavaScript, Python, Go, and corresponding frameworks and databases.
  • Dev Sec Ops  & Engineering Excellence
    • Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and observability solutions.
    • Drive adoption of secure coding, governance, and compliance practices aligned with federal standards.
  • Metrics, Value Realization & Governance
    • Define and track KPIs for AI adoption and efficiency gains.
    • Measure productivity improvements, cost optimization, and quality metrics.
    • Ensure AI implementations align with federal guidelines and responsible AI practices.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, cloud architecture, or platform engineering.
  • Hands‑on expertise in Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and Dev Sec Ops .
  • Strong programming experience across multiple languages and frameworks.
  • Experience integrating or implementing AI/ML solutions in enterprise environments.
  • Proven ability to work across modern and legacy systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in federal or regulated environments.
  • Background in AI/ML frameworks, microservices, and large‑scale modernization initiatives.
  • Coaching, mentoring, or technical leadership experience.
  • Familiarity with zero trust architectures and secure cloud patterns.

Salary and Benefit Information

Salary range: $145,000 – $170,000.

Benefits include PTO, paid holidays, health and dental insurance, life insurance, short‑ and long‑term disability coverage, 401(k) plan with matching, flexible spending accounts, and tuition reimbursement.
