The mission of the Platform Product Group engineers is to build a trusted, scalable and compliant platform to operate with speed, efficiency and quality. Our teams build and maintain the platforms critical to the existence of Coinbase. There are many teams that make up this group which include Product Foundations (i.e. Identity, Payment, Risk, Proofing & Regulatory, Finhub), Machine Learning, Customer Experience, and Infrastructure.

The Author team within DevX builds tools and infrastructure to empower engineers to develop scalable, efficient and secure software. This team is responsible for building solutions for engineers during the inner loop of development. Their primary goal is to reduce friction and cognitive load during local development through the usage of AI, remote cloud development environment, and shifting left our testing strategy.

We are looking for an exceptional engineering leader to develop greenfield solutions as well as take existing ones to the next level.

• Build and manage backend infrastructure engineers, to guide the development of features, services, and infrastructure to improve developer productivity.
• Collaborate with engineers, customers, and leadership to understand local development pain points and develop strategy with detailed roadmap. Generate alignment with stakeholders across the company.
• Develop code authoring solutions. Measure its effectiveness and adoption. Actively listen to customer feedback and iterate to improve solutions.
• Be a thoughtful technical voice within the team, aiding in diligent architectural decisions and fostering a culture of high‑quality code and engineering processes.
• Take ownership of the team's processes and services, ensuring SLA adherence.
• Work closely with our talent organization to identify and recruit exceptional engineers who align with Coinbase's culture and contribute to our products.
• Coach your direct reports to have a positive impact on the organization and support their career growth.

• At least 7+ years of experience in software engineering.
• At least 2+ years of engineering management experience.
• Passionate about high‑quality code and effective software engineering processes, landing changes to improve them.
• An execution‑focused mindset, capable of navigating through ambiguity and delivering results.
• Deep customer empathy for the developers as our primary customer stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication. Able to articulate vision and influence stakeholders across the company.
• Proven experience landing large initiatives, making an impact across the company that changed the status quo.
• You can be hands‑on when needed – whether that’s writing/reviewing code or technical documents, participating in on‑call rotations and leading incidents, or triaging/troubleshooting bugs.
• Coach your direct reports to have a positive impact on the organization and support their career growth.

• Have previous experience at a fast paced, high growth stage internet/software company
