ITCON Services is looking for a bright, motivated Senior Java Developer for a contingent position. The Senior Java Developer position will be a 100% hands‑on role and will support both company and project team endeavors. The Senior Java Developer will participate in the full life cycle of agile or waterfall projects by designing and developing user interfaces and applications. They will need to be skilled in conducting unit testing to ensure high quality bug‑free code.

Additional duties include decomposing business and system architecture to support clean‑interface multi‑team development. The Java Developer will need to have a strong understanding of the business problem statement, user stories, and technical constraints.

The ideal candidate will be able to work in a diverse environment and be able to multitask many work streams s associate will mentor junior staff and have been able to take 100% ownership of tasks assigned.

Required Skills And Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field, with ten (10) years of relevant software development, sustainment, and operations experience supporting federal or enterprise applications.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain the required USDA Public Trust/Tier 2 background investigation for personnel performing software development, technical maintenance, or access to sensitive Government systems.
  • Demonstrated hands‑on experience developing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing Java‑based enterprise applications using Spring Boot/Spring Framework, RESTful services, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and modern web application development practices.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience with Angular/AngularJS or comparable front‑end frameworks, including development of responsive, accessible, and user‑friendly application interfaces.
  • Experience supporting applications hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS), including troubleshooting issues involving AWS S3, RDS, EFS, cloud‑hosted repositories, application deployments, backups, and environment configuration across Development, UAT/Pre‑Production, Production, and Disaster Recovery environments.
  • Experience maintaining and enhancing content management or knowledge repository platforms; experience with Media Wiki customization, policy/content management workflows, or similar wiki‑based platforms is strongly preferred.
  • Experience using Jira/Jira Agile to manage user stories, acceptance criteria, sprint backlogs, defects, test cases, release artifacts, velocity metrics, burndown charts, and end‑of‑sprint reporting.
  • Experience developing and maintaining technical design documentation, release notes, Version Description Documents, source code documentation, test plans, test scripts, test results, and deployment instructions in accordance with Agile SDLC and configuration management processes.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum teams, supporting sprint planning, backlog grooming, sprint reviews/demonstrations, retrospectives, quarterly release planning, and maintenance of an established sprint velocity.
  • Experience performing unit, functional, system integration, regression, interoperability, security, browser compatibility, load/performance, and user acceptance testing; ability to document defects, analyze results, and remediate issues prior to release.
  • Strong knowledge of Section 508 and WCAG Level A/AA accessibility requirements for web applications, electronic content, reports, documentation, and user support materials.
  • Experience applying secure coding practices, static code analysis, automated unit/integration testing, vulnerability scanning, and remediation of Critical, High, Medium, and Low vulnerabilities in accordance with federal security requirements.
