This position is for current Blue Ridge CTC students only. Students must be eligible for Federal Work Study (FWS) to be considered for this position. To see if you are eligible for FWS funds, please contact the Blue Ridge CTC financial aid office.

This is a community service program position located at the Apollo Civic Theatre, located in Martinsburg, WV.

The Apollo Civic Theatre is seeking friendly, dependable, and enthusiastic students to serve as Front of House and Box Office Associates.

This position provides hands-on experience in customer service, ticketing, reservations, tourism, hospitality, marketing, event operations, and nonprofit arts administration.

Duties to include:

Box Office and Reservations

  • Greet patrons in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Assist patrons with purchasing tickets and making reservations.

Patron and Visitor Services

  • Welcome guests entering the theatre and provide directions and general information.
  • Answer questions about performances
  • Share basic information about the Apollo Civic Theatre's history and its role in the Martinsburg community.
  • Help maintain a friendly, inclusive, and professional environment for patrons of all ages and backgrounds.

Performance and Event Support

  • Assist with opening and closing the lobby and box office.
  • Check tickets, distribute programs, direct patrons to seating areas, and assist with crowd flow.
  • Support ushers, concessions workers, volunteers, and other front-of-house team members.
  • Current Blue Ridge Community and Technical College student who meets the requirements of the applicable student employment or Federal Work-Study program.
  • Strong interest in customer service, hospitality, tourism, marketing, business, events, or the performing arts.
  • Friendly and professional communication skills.
  • Ability to interact respectfully with children, families, older adults, volunteers, performers, and community members.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to follow instructions.
  • Ability to learn computer-based ticketing and point-of-sale systems.
  • Ability to handle basic financial transactions carefully and accurately.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends based on the theatre's performance and event schedule.

Previous theatre, hospitality, retail, tourism, office, or customer-service experience is helpful but not required. Training will be provided.

Work hours will vary according to the Apollo Civic Theatre's production, rental, workshop, and special-event schedule. Most available shifts will occur during evenings and weekends, with occasional daytime hours for field trips, rentals, and special events.
