Level I
High School Diploma/GED Must enter and complete the (CDA) Certification process.
$13.72/hour
Level II
CDA or state equivalent certification. Must hold an Early Childhood classroom Assistant Teacher (ECCAT).
$14.56/hour
Level III
Permanent WV Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher (ECCAT) credential, or CDA/ACDS or equivalent Plus two years of experience.
$15.79/hour
Qualifications- HS Diploma/GED. Must enter and complete the CDA Certification.
- Must begin work to obtain WV Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher credential (ECCAT) within two school years.
- Knowledge of early childhood development and a desire to work with young children.
- For WV Pre-K classroom Teacher Assistants:
The Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher (ECCAT) Authorization must be immediately obtained. The Teacher Assistant must obtain Permanent Authorization within two school years of hire. The Temporary Authorization can only be renewed once, according to WVBE Policy 2525. - Effective communication, writing, organizational, and basic computer skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Written and Verbal Communication skills.
- Valid Driver’s License with safe driving record or State issued .
- Must pass required background and drug screening.
- Attain and understanding of the connection between improving parent/family engagement and enhancing child development and school readiness.
- Responsible for the health and safety of enrolled children.
- Actively participate and work with teachers in planning, developing, and implementing a developmentally appropriate education plan for children.
- Use positive guidance strategies to support children’s confidence, self-esteem, and social‑emotional development.
- Encourage family engagement in school readiness activities and parent volunteer opportunities.
- Assist in developing and implementing lesson plans to meet each child’s needs, interests, learning styles, and individual goals.
- Assist in home visitation and parent teacher conferences.
- Assist the teachers in all areas of the classroom operations.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
