SALARY: $74,500.14 to $84,450.08

TIC Manager 2

POSITION SUMMARY

The TIC Manager 2 is the assistant to the TIC Manager 3 (District Manager) and provides additional oversight of TIC Manager 1s and their locations. The incumbent helps plan and coordinate operations across the Tourist Information Centers, Welcome Center, and craft shops on the West Virginia Turnpike; conducts shop visits; backs up site managers; and carries assigned pieces of district scheduling, inventory, training, reporting, and vendor coordination.

When the TIC Manager 3 is absent, the TIC Manager 2 is the primary acting official for designated operational functions. This classification is the mid-management bridge between site management and district leadership.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Multi-Site Oversight and Support to TIC Manager 3
  • Assist the TIC Manager 3 in implementing and enforcing Standard Operating Procedures at all TIC locations, the Welcome Center, and craft shops.
  • Make regular shop visits to observe service, sales presentation, cleanliness, cash control, and staffing; document findings and follow up with TIC Manager 1s.
  • Help monitor and assess the effectiveness of sales and displays at all locations and recommend resets or promotions.
  • Provide additional oversight of TIC Manager 1s: coaching on schedules, reports, inventory discipline, and employee relations issues that can be resolved at the assistant- district level.
  • Manage a shop in the event a TIC Manager 1 is absent, or assign and verify coverage.
  • Serve as acting TIC Manager 3 for designated operational duties during planned or unplanned absences, as authorized.
Scheduling, Training, Inventory, and Reporting
  • Assist with coordination of work-hour schedules across locations to cover vacancies, leave, and peak travel periods.
  • Help oversee training of employees and interns; maintain a simple training tracker and recommend Counselor 1-3 development actions.
  • Coordinate and/or support familiarization trips for TIC employees and interns.
  • Help coordinate regularly scheduled manager meetings and prepare materials as assigned.
  • Oversee or verify inventory counts, brochure and map supplies, and literature screening before display, in partnership with site managers.
  • Monitor weekly and monthly sales and activity reports from TIC Manager 1s; flag variances to TIC Manager 3.
  • Assist in preparing portions of the monthly district report
  • Support price-reduction, damaged-stock, and write-off documentation before it is forwarded to TIC Manager 3.
Partnerships, Special Events, and Daily Operations
  • Help coordinate activities necessary for daily operation of the TICs, including special events and plaza partner issues.
  • Coordinate as required with restaurant and service-station operators on the Turnpike on matters that affect TIC operations.
  • Coordinate with local and state Convention and Visitors Bureaus on activities that encourage travel, as assigned.
  • Participate in safety meetings conducted by the Safety and Training function of the Authority.
  • May assist with receiving shipments, quality checks, and routing of product to sites when district receiving support is needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in travel-center, retail, hospitality, or visitor-industry operations, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory or site- manager role (TIC Manager 1 or equivalent).
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Demonstrated ability to review the work of other supervisors or leads and to produce accurate operational reports.
  • Intermediate skill with common office productivity software.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Successful service as a TIC Manager 1 with the West Virginia Parkways Authority.
  • Experience coordinating schedules or inventory across more than one site.
  • Experience working with CVBs, plaza vendors, or tourism partners
  • Associate degree or coursework in business, hospitality, tourism, or a related field.
