The Assistant Manager supports the Store Manager in overall operations and administrative duties, ensuring the store meets its goals. They are knowledgeable in all product areas, uphold store policies and standards, and are passionate about outstanding customer service. The assistant assumes supervisory control in the Store Manager’s absence and is trained in Manager responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett I City Gear
- Consult with the Store Manager to establish action plans for departmental and store-wide responsibilities such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling
- Assume responsibility for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager
- Assist in overall personnel recruiting, training, and evaluation
- Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across all departments when necessary
- Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability in every department
- Direct staff to ensure each department’s responsibilities and standards are completed
- Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends
- Maintain quality customer service standards
- Perform general administrative duties as needed and train in the Store Manager’s responsibilities
- Provide extraordinary customer service, including greeting customers and assisting multiple customers during peak periods
- Promote and sell services and merchandise offered by Hibbett I City Gear
- Uphold all Hibbett I City Gear policies, procedures, and standards as outlined in the operations, personnel, visual, and customer service manuals, and company memos
- Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring accurate internal controls and reporting potential fraud risks to management or appropriate officials
Supervises employees in the Store Manager’s absence, carrying out responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training, planning, assigning, directing work, and resolving problems.
Qualifications- Experience in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel
- 1–3 years of customer service experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Capability to assist in managing a team and meet overall goals and profits
- Self-starter with initiative to take on tasks proactively
- Strong attention to detail, capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously with precision
- Team-player with a passion for outstanding customer service and merchandise sales
