Heavy Equipment Operator

Position Summary:

We are seeking experienced and safety-focused Heavy Equipment Operators to join our team. The ideal candidate will be skilled in operating a variety of construction equipment, including backdump trucks, excavators, dozers, rollers, and loaders. This role plays a critical part in ensuring projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to high-quality standards.

Essential

Job Duties:

Operate heavy equipment such as backdump trucks, excavators, bulldozers, rollers, and loaders in a safe and efficient manner

Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance (check fluids, grease, clean, etc.)Follow project plans, grade stakes, and supervisor instructions to complete tasks accurately

Load, move, and place materials such as soil, gravel, and debris

Maintain awareness of surroundings, including other workers, equipment, and potential hazards

Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations

Communicate effectively with crew members, supervisors, and site managers

Assist with general labor tasks when equipment operation is not required

Qualifications:

Proven experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment (backdump, excavator, dozer, roller, loader)
Strong understanding of construction site safety practices

Ability to read and interpret basic site plans and grade stakes preferred

Ability to work in varying weather conditions and physically demanding environments

Strong work ethic, reliability, and teamwork skills

Skills:

Experience with GPS or grade control systems

Knowledge of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting

Previous experience in construction, roadwork, or site development PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS:

The ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction

Specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus

Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl

Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds individually and up to 75 to 100 pounds with assistance

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work on site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.

The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud
