High School STEM Instructor (Calculus & Physics)

Description

The High School STEM Instructor is responsible for delivering rigorous, engaging, and standards‑aligned instruction across a specialized curriculum including Calculus, Physics, and Economics. The instructor cultivates advanced mathematical reasoning, scientific inquiry, and analytical problem‑solving skills, preparing students for success in college‑level STEM pathways and beyond.

The ideal candidate fosters a structured yet intellectually stimulating classroom environment that promotes curiosity, precision, and academic excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mathematics Instruction:
    Deliver engaging lessons in AP Pre‑Calculus and Calculus (limits, derivatives, integrals, and applications).
  • Physics Instruction:
    Teach AP Physics C, covering Mechanics, Electricity, and Magnetism. Instruct the Honors Physics Dual Credit course.
  • Economics Instruction:
    Facilitate a Microeconomics course, incorporating real‑world applications and interdisciplinary connections.
  • Curriculum Development:
    Develop lesson plans aligned with state standards and College Board frameworks.
  • Exam Preparation:
    Prepare students for AP Calculus and AP Physics C exams.
  • Assessment & Differentiation:
    Utilize formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and differentiate learning to meet diverse student needs.
  • Integration:
    Incorporate real‑world applications and interdisciplinary connections (e.g., engineering, technology, and social sciences).
Requirements
  • Education:

    Master’s degree in Physics or a closely related field is required.
  • Certification:
    Valid state teaching certification is preferred.
  • Experience:

    Proven experience teaching high school mathematics and physics; experience preparing students for AP exams is preferred.
  • Content Knowledge:
    Strong background in differential/integral calculus and advanced physics concepts.
  • Skills:

    Strong classroom management, proficiency with educational technology, and excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Professional Development: AP Calculus and/or AP Physics certification/College Board training is highly preferred.
  • Background:
    Experience with STEM integration and teaching Honors or IB‑level courses is preferred.
