Immediate opening Salt Creek Primary 2026/27 School Year.
5 FTE (Part Time) Elementary General Music Teacher

Qualifications:

  • Valid Professional Educator License Music (MUS) Endorsement
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university

  • Performance Responsibilities:

    • Assess student progress towards targets and standards, providing feedback to students, parents, and administration.
    • Communicate clearly and accurately with students and parents to provide constructive feedback.
    • Collaborate with instructional staff, school personnel, parents, and community resources to improve student outcomes and achieve classroom objectives.
    • Deliver instruction to engage all students, adjusting lessons based on student progress to enhance academic and interpersonal skills.
    • Design instructional materials that align with individual learning plans and state and district standards.
    • Administer assessments to evaluate student competency and plan for instructional groups.
    • Direct and support student teachers, instructional assistants, and volunteers to provide an effective classroom program.
    • Maintain accurate and timely records to monitor student progress.
    • Manage student behavior, classroom procedures, and physical space to ensure a safe and optimal learning environment.
    • Reflect on teaching strategies and lesson effectiveness to improve student achievement.
    • Respond to emergencies and report incidents to ensure student safety and compliance with policies.
    • Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated times and locations, creating a conducive learning environment.
    • Plan programs that meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
    • Prepare for classes and provide written evidence of preparation as required.
    • Encourage and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
    • Use a variety of teaching methods and materials suitable for students needs.
    • Guide learning toward curriculum goals by establishing clear objectives for lessons and units.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive school environment that promotes respect, collaboration, and a strong sense of community among students and staff.
    • Collaborate effectively with colleagues to enhance the educational environment, demonstrating a positive attitude and a commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace culture.
    • Implement the district's philosophy, and goals, and adhere to policies and procedures.
    • Regularly assess student accomplishments and provide progress reports.
    • Collaborate in identifying and addressing the needs of students with specialized requirements.
    • Take precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
    • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
    • Attend faculty meetings, in-service sessions, and serve on committees as needed.
    • Meet accepted criteria and standards of professional performance.

    Music Certified Staff Specific:

    • Develop and deliver a comprehensive elementary general music curriculum aligned to Illinois Learning Standards and National Core Arts Standards for Music.
    • Provide developmentally appropriate instruction in music literacy, rhythm, melody, harmony, form, expression, and performance.
    • Teach singing, movement, listening skills, creative expression, and basic instrumental experiences (e.g., percussion, recorder, classroom instruments).
    • Foster creativity, collaboration, and confidence through active music-making experiences.
    • Incorporate diverse musical genres, cultures, and historical perspectives into instruction.
    • Differentiate instruction to meet the varied developmental and learning needs of elementary students.
    • Integrate technology and digital music tools to enhance student engagement and musical understanding.
    • Assess student growth in musical skills and concepts using a variety of formative and summative measures.
    • Maintain music classroom materials, instruments, and equipment in a safe and organized manner.
