The Primary Purpose of this position is to serve as a subject matter expert for Transmission and Substation large pieces of equipment. The role prefers knowledge of industry standards such as IEEE and ANSI as they pertain to T&S assets. The person will provide expert opinions to field personnel and management, create and update T&S equipment standards, provide technical training, and participate in technical and industrial committees.

Reading/reviewing electric schematics and coordinating with vendors on T&S equipment are part of the responsibilities. The role also involves evaluating equipment and working with supply and others to determine and approve vendors for T&S equipment. The position may require extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

Develops and/or leads studies, plans, criteria, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, performance assessments, integrated systems analysis, cost estimates, budgets, associated with the planning, design, licensing, construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of Exelon’s electric transmission and distribution systems. Provides consultation and recommendations to the Company and other business units or customers based on studies of company or customer-owned systems, processes, equipment, vehicles or facilities.

Reviews financial data from budgets and project costs. Provides technical expertise to strategic, legislative and operational decisions. Trains and mentors others. This role may require extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

• Leads and performs assignments in specialized areas requiring extensive engineering expertise, maintaining state-of-the-art credentials in the specialized technical area.
• Leads and performs engineering tasks and projects in critical or analytical contexts, including field testing, troubleshooting, and peer review.
• Evaluates, develops, implements and leads projects with significant financial and operational impact; may include initial commissioning plans. Plans, writes and performs tasks for documentation deliverables and projects.
• Participates in department planning through field/site walkdowns, meetings, and budget monitoring to achieve committed results.
• Performs assignments independently and may lead multi-discipline teams; may include oversight of contractors.
• Serves as an expert in a specialized area and may act as an expert witness or provide expert opinions as required.
• Provides recommendations to management and implements action plans to improve performance and cost effectiveness.
• Provides detailed technical training, mentorship, peer review, and guidance to others.
• Participates in technical and industry societies and committees to stay current on technologies and issues relevant to company interests and to inform strategic decisions.

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer; knowledge of engineering design, principles and practices.
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge and ability to apply problem-solving approaches and engineering theory.
• Detailed knowledge of applicable standards, codes, methods, and practices relevant to areas of expertise.
