Position SummaryThe DuPage High School District 88 IT Department seeks a motivated and enthusiastic High School Student Intern to assist with essential technology support tasks during the school year. This is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in gaining hands-on experience in IT, problem-solving, and customer service within an educational environment. The intern will primarily focus on repairing and maintaining Chromebook devices, responding to and resolving basic technical support requests, and assisting with other IT-related projects as needed.
Responsibilities- Chromebook Repair and Maintenance
- Diagnose hardware and software issues on Chromebooks.
- Perform basic repairs such as screen replacements, keyboard replacements, and other component swaps (with guidance and training).
- Clean and maintain Chromebook devices.
- Track inventory of repaired and non-functional Chromebooks.
- Field Service and User Support
- Respond to and address basic technical support requests from school staff via phone, email, or in person.
- Travel to different locations within the school building to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Assist users with basic software applications and hardware peripherals.
- Document all support activities and resolutions accurately.
- Troubleshooting and Problem Solving
- Identify and analyze basic technical problems with hardware, software, and network connectivity.
- Follow established procedures and guidelines to resolve common issues.
- Escalate more complex issues to the IT department staff as necessary.
- General IT Support
- Assist with the setup and deployment of new technology equipment.
- Help organize and maintain IT equipment and supplies.
- Perform other IT-related tasks and projects as assigned by the IT staff.
- Demonstrated interest in technology and computers.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently with supervision.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) applications.
- Basic experience with hardware repair or troubleshooting.
- Gain hands-on experience in a real-world IT environment.
- Develop technical skills in hardware repair and software troubleshooting.
