Must-Have:
Proficiency in American Sign Language
Associates degree or Bachelor's degree in interpreting, deaf studies, or related field (preferred)
Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
Current CPR certification (if applicable)
TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray (if applicable)
Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age
Description:
The Educational Sign Language Interpreter is a trained professional who facilitates communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and others within an educational setting.
American Sign Language (ASL) is often used to interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa.
This ensures students have accommodations to classroom instruction, activities, and learning discussions.
There will be opportunities for individual student interpreting as well as interpreting for Deaf staff.
Daily schedule will vary, with over 30 deaf or hard-of-hearing students and 20 staff members.
