Community Engagement Coordinator
Position
Purpose:
To enhance student achievement by providing supportive avenues to help meet the basic needs of students and their environments outside of school through strong relationship building, development and maintenance of a partnership directory/database, supporting the PPS staff, managing donations, both in-kind and financial, serving as the liaison between the district and partner organizations while maintaining a focus on the child's well-being.
Under the direction of the Director of Communications, the Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for the overall outreach and volunteer management, as well as increasing stakeholder engagement as part of the District 45 Communications department. This position will be responsible for establishing and nurturing partnerships with organizations that can help meet the basic needs and provide a positive impact for local children.
Essential Performance Responsibilities:
- Working effectively and communicate professionally with all students, parents, staff, vendors, and referral resources and adapting to various subject matters
- Acting as a conduit between community resources, the district staff, and the student.
- Promote the mission of the District in an effort to recruit preferred referral resources, volunteers, and donors/sponsors.
- Create and maintain positive relationships and partnerships with local youth-focused organizations.
- Serve as the point of contact to School District 45 Villa Park principals, social workers for the coordination of preferred referral resource programs.
- Serve as the School District 45 Villa Park McKinney-Vento Liaison.
- Develop and implement a database for the management of referral resources and volunteers.
- Design and maintain a preferred referral resource program.
- Conduct annual events with the goal of serving the basic needs of children such as school supply drives, clothing and shoe drives, etc.
- Organize referral resource recognition events.
- Assist in the development and adherence of the annual budget.
- Carrying out any special projects to support the basic needs a student may have that would contribute to the success of students' academic achievement
- Developing student and family engagement plans in coordination with the social worker team
- Providing necessary and relevant clerical assistance
- Assisting in the creation and preparation of materials
- Providing assistance and supports within the community that can build social skills for students and emotional support to families
- Communicating (verbal and/or written) with social worker team regarding students' needs and progress
- Participating in family involvement activities at school and in community within or outside of the school day
- Assisting students in various settings at the school or at referral resource entities
- Attending staffing and parent meetings involving individuals as recommended by supervisor
- Assessing engagement success and necessary pivots for benchmark success with supervisor
- Assist the District 45 communications department as needed
- Complete any necessary trainings defined by the district
- Provide assistance with communications tasks as needed
- Explore all available resources and partnerships

Physical Activity Requirements:
Routine physical activity associated with a normal school environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear to exchange information. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb and balance; bend at the waist, stoop, kneel, and perform work which involves occasional lifting, pushing and or pulling of objects up to 20 lbs.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close visual acuity, preparing and analyzing data, viewing the computer, and extensive reading.
