Part time police officers provide security for the Municipal Court, city meetings, special events and concerts as well as other departmental functions as needed by the agency. The Villa Rica Police Department is a 24 hour, full service law enforcement agency. We provide professional police services involving protection of life and property, enforcement of laws and investigation of crime. An employee with the department is responsible for enforcing all statutes, laws, ordinances and regulations of the State of Georgia and the City of Villa Rica, maintaining law and order, protecting life and property, and performing police related assignments.
Work is performed according to established departmental policies and procedures. It contains a substantial element of personal risk; employees must exercise sound judgment independently in emergency situations. Employees must perform duties tactfully and efficiently under little direct supervision, receiving assignment and general instructions from a superior officer.
General police responsibilities necessary to the stability and safety of the community, including but not limited to:
- Providing security for the Municipal Court, city meetings, special events and concerts.
- Enforcing statutes, laws, ordinances and regulations of the State of Georgia and City of Villa Rica.
- Maintaining law and order and protecting life and property.
- Investigating crime.
- Responding to emergency situations with sound judgment.
- Must be a Certified Peace Officer.
- Must be twenty-one years of age.
- Never having been convicted of a felony crime.
- Possess a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent.
- Valid Georgia Driver's License and good driving record.
- U.S. Citizen who is physically and mentally able to perform the essential job functions of the position.
- Pass a detailed background investigation.
- Interview with our advisory board.
- Physical agility test.
- Medical examination.
- Drug screen.
- Psychological evaluation.
