Description
The Technical Services Coordinator is a full-time, 12-monthprofessional staff position with benefits. This position reports directly to the Director of Library Services. The Technical Services Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and actively participating in technical services operations, includingcataloging, and campus archives.
This position also contributes to library programming and student engagement by supporting academic needs through outreach,programming, reference services, and other library-related activities as required.
Duties/Responsibilities:- Work with archival materials for the university’s historicallibrary, including digitization and uploading materials to Omekawith appropriate metadata.
- Train and support full-time Technical Services Assistants
- Train part-time staff on Lewis projects as assigned.
- Classify and catalog print and electronic materials added tothe collection using OCLC World Share Management Services(WMS).
- Apply efficient cataloging procedures using LCSH, AACR2, DDC,RDA, XML, and OCLC bibliographic and authority records to improve operations and service delivery.
- Hire, supervise, and assign projects and work responsibilities to student employees.
- Provide reference services to the Vincennes University community in person, online, and by phone using all availablelibrary resources.
- Create and maintain online content for the library website andnewsletters.
- Collaborate with library colleagues to develop programming,including displays, interactive activities, and events.
- Develop and maintain partnerships within the university and the surrounding community and participate in outreachactivities.
- Communicate with internal and external constituents regardingprogramming, reference requests, archival accessioning, and otherlibrary-related matters.
- Represent the library at campus and community functions,including programming and student engagement activities.
- Prepare and process incoming and outgoing materials, includingbooks, media, and other library items.
- Collect, analyze, and prepare assessment data for libraryoperations.
- Participate in university, division, and departmentalcommittees as appropriate.
- Work evenings and weekends as needed to support libraryoperations, programming, or during staff shortages.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to understand and apply basic catalogingprinciples.
- Experience working with historical materials, includingcataloging, digitization, and preservation.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Working knowledge of OCLC World Share Management Services(WMS).
- Ability to supervise and mentor student employees.
- Capacity to lead programs and activities.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and adapt to changing priorities.
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
The successful candidate will have experience working in a librarysetting; strong oral and written communication skills; and the ability to work effectively with students and staff from diverse backgrounds. The candidate must be able to respond to and resolvelibrary issues professionally, collaborate in a team-oriented environment with library staff and campus departments, demonstrate initiative and innovative programming ideas, manage multiple priorities with attention to detail, and provide excellent customer service.
Preferred working knowledge of Windows-based systems and applications, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, OCLClibrary software, and the World Share Management System (WMS) withcataloging, acquisitions, and circulation modules. Software systems are updated frequently and require ongoing retraining.
